Midnight Decoy Operation in Bhilwara Results in Arrest of 18 Street Harassers
Police in Bhilwara conducted a midnight decoy operation leading to the arrest of 18 individuals accused of harassing women in public spaces. Led by trainee Rajasthan Police Service officer Dr. Neha Rao, the operation involved plainclothes deployment at bus stands, parks, and coaching areas under a women safety campaign, targeting eve-teasing and stalking incidents across the city.
The action was led by trainee Rajasthan Police Service officer Dr. Neha Rao. Under her supervision, police teams deployed female officers in plainclothes across key public hotspots, including bus stands, parks, and coaching institute zones, to identify and intercept individuals involved in eve-teasing and stalking behaviour.
As part of the operational strategy, officers simulated vulnerable scenarios to draw out offenders. These included a situation in which a female officer posed as a stranded student with a broken scooter, while others acted as lone pedestrians. Individuals who made inappropriate remarks, followed the decoy targets, or engaged in harassment were swiftly intercepted and taken into custody.
The coordinated crackdown was carried out under the Women Safety Resolution Campaign and continued late into the night as part of an extended surveillance and enforcement initiative.
Officials stated that the operation was designed to strengthen deterrence against street harassment and enhance safety in public spaces across Bhilwara. The coordinated raids concluded after multiple targeted interventions, marking a sustained effort to maintain vigilance against such offences in the region.
